International festival

Bowie International Festival will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Allen Pond Park. Celtic music and Irish step dancing, colorful costumes and music of Bolivia, the rhythmic beat of a steel band and a Reggae band and more will be featured. The festival includes entertainment on two stages, food from many cultures, international arts and crafts for sale, and children's activities. Rain date is Sunday. Garden club trip

Wildlife Visitor Center

Patuxent Research Refuge's National Wildlife Visitor Center, 10901 Scarlet Tanager Loop, Laurel, offers the following:

Tram tours - weekends at 11:30 a.m. and 1, 2 and 3 p.m. through early November, weather permitting. Tram tours for up to 40 people may also be reserved weekdays by schools, camps and other organizations for a fee of $60 per tour.

Bird walks - Oct. 15 and 29 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. and Oct. 14 and 24 from 8 to 10 a.m., for ages 16+.

Nature hike - Sunday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. for ages 8-10.
