Obituaries


Robert Andersen

Robert Khristian Andersen, a 32-year resident of Bowie, died Sept. 27 at Doctors Hospital. He was 56.

Born Aug. 20, 1952, in Montgomery County, Mr. Andersen graduated high school. He was a building restoration business owner.

He had been a parishioner of Cornerstone Assembly of God.

A foster parent for 19 years, Mr. Andersen enjoyed airplanes, fishing and the Bible. He received a private plane license at age 14.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Andersen whom he married Feb. 14, 1976; nine children, Bobby, Erik, Tony, Tyler, Cameron, Tamera, Faith, Atlantis and Tia; his mother and stepfather, Gerd and Ernst Tonstad; a brother, Steve Andersen; and three sisters, Monica Wieland, Loraine Stoops and Bridget Jones.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Beall Funeral Home.

Kathleen Gary

Kathleen A. Gary of Willow Springs, N.C., and a Bowie resident from 1971 to 2005, died Sept. 22 at home. She was 63.

Born Nov. 15, 1944, in Washington, D.C., Mrs. Gary graduated from Regina High School and Washington School of Secretaries. She worked for many years for the Computer Science Corp., then with a Bowie law firm before relocating to Willow Springs in 2005.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth and Kevin Gary of Bowie; a daughter, Kimberly Galloway of Willow Springs; and 10 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Gordon Gary Jr. who died in 1997.

Services will be Saturday at noon at Sacred Heart Chapel.

Thomas Hudgins

Thomas Earl Hudgins of Severna Park died of cancer Sept. 24 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was 47.

Born Nov. 21, 1960, in Cheverly, he was a mechanic for Interstate Brands.

A member of the Southern Maryland MOPAR Club, Mr. Hudgins enjoyed working on his own MOPAR car. He also was a member of the Men's League Golf Club at Compass Pointe Golf Courses.

A Redskins fan, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and grilling on the barbecue.

Survivors include two daughters, Jessica Lee Hudgins of Odenton and Samantha Morgan Hudgins of Pasadena; his parents, Lucia G. and Edward Lee Hudgins Jr. of Bowie; four brothers, Edward Lee Hudgins III of Cottage City, William Anthony Hudgins Sr. of Glen Burnie, M. David Hudgins of Finksburg and John Matthew Hudgins of Laurel; one sister, Joan Maria Hudgins of Laurel; one granddaughter; and his former wife, Gail Helm of Pasadena.

A memorial service was held at Faith Baptist Church in Glen Burnie. Arrangements were by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.

Phyllis Kline

Phyllis Ann Kline of Cobb Island and formerly of Bowie died of cancer Sept. 23 at home. She was 74.

Born April 3, 1934, in Glenn Dale, Mrs. Kline was employed at Captain Johns Restaurant, Cobb Island.

A Redskins fan, she enjoyed eating crabs.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Kline whom she married Sept. 30, 1950; a son, Robert Kline of Churchtown; three grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Beall Funeral Home, with burial in Ft. Lincoln Cemetery.
