Girls varsity soccer

The Bowie High girls varsity soccer team began the fall season with a 13-0 win over the Parkdale Panthers.

Sophomore Madeline Simms and junior Mary Randolph each scored a hat trick in the win. Junior Kristi Hepner and freshman Marissa Green each contributed two goals while sophomore Erin St. Germain, junior Taylor Durning and senior Melissa Thrift each scored a goal.

Assists were contributed by Green, St. Germain, Thrift, Colleen Lynott and Erika Monroe.

The Lady Bulldogs followed up the win over Parkdale with similar momentum against the Laurel Spartans, but the score was much closer than the 13-goal rout of Parkdale.

Simms, a key forward, was forced to miss the game because of a red card she received during the game against Parkdale. Regardless, Bowie managed to defeat Laurel, 4-0.

Green contributed a hat trick and the remaining tally was offered up by Samantha Collins. Assists from Hepner (2) as well as St. Germain (1) and Milissa Vogel (1) helped secure the win for the Lady Bulldogs, who moved to 2-0 on the season.

Next up for the Bowie varsity girls was Oxon Hill, a team that the Lady Bulldogs dispatched, 8-1.
