Fall festival this Sunday

By CHRISTINA BLAKENEY Staff Writer

Come one, come all to the Old Town Bowie Fall Festival.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, there's plenty to do and lots to look forward to.

This year includes the first-ever guided walking tour of Old Bowie, with the showcase of an antique car. Longtime resident Fannie Basim will lead the tour of this historical city.

"The tour will also include some of the historical landmarks in Old Town Bowie," said Terri Russell, owner of Simple Pleasures ice cream parlor. The tour will start at the railroad museum.

And of course, what keeps the festival on track is the wide variety of antique and craft vendors.

The birds of prey show will also return this year, and for the children, there will be face painting, fan art and inflatable attractions which will include the moonbounce, large slide and obstacle course.

As always, there is going to be a variety of food including barbecue, funnel cake, popcorn, cotton candy, Asian food and homemade ice cream, to name just a few.

The entertainment for the day will include a band called the Grey Dogs, and they will play music such as Motown, blues and rock.

"Our community has a diverse spectrum of people, that's why we have a little bit of everything, for everybody," said Russell.
