Livingstone struck pay dirt first on a 79-yard scoring play. Jones cut the score to 7-6 at the 4:17 mark of the opening quarter, rushing for a 2-yard touchdown.

A 39-yard field goal with 5:01 left in the half gave Livingstone a 10-6 lead. Anthony Green shifted the advantage back to Bowie State with 1:27 remaining when he jumped over a Blue Bears defender in the corner of the end zone and recorded a 6-yard touchdown. Michael Gagne converted the extra point, making the score 13-10 in favor of the Bulldogs at the half.

The Bulldogs picked up two easy points with 9:14 left in the game when a bad center snap sailed over the head of the Livingstone punter. As a result of the safety Bowie State broadened its margin to 15-10.

The Bowie defense played extremely well, holding Livingstone to only three rushing yards on 25 attempts. Alvin Cox and Kyle Jackson led BSU with eight tackles each. Cox also led Bowie State with two sacks for 18 yards. Penalties were nearly detrimental to Bowie State as the Bulldogs were flagged 12 times for 105 yards.

Bowie State will return to North Carolina Saturday, this time traveling to Raleigh to face the Bears of Shaw University. The game will be played at Durham County Stadium with kickoff set for 4 p.m.
