Choral group forming The city of Bowie will sponsor a performing choral group for boys and girls in grades five through nine. Rehearsals will be Thursdays, Jan. 21 through May 31, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at City Hall. Participants must either live in the city of Bowie or attend a Bowie school. Registration, at $50, continues for city residents. Registration is $55 for nonresidents who must attend a Bowie school and begins Dec. 1. Ladies are invited, in period costume if you like, to the c. 1807 home of Rosalie Stier Calvert and her husband, George Calvert, Saturday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Participants will create a period commonplace, or scrapbook, gather inspiration from the garden with floral-based activities, blend perfume, use natural dyes to make icings, and more. A presentation on regency hairstyles will be given. The afternoon will end with a tea service accompanied by a reading on Calvert, the mistress of Riversdale, and her gardens.
