He has led the Chemistry Club for three years, and recently was honored as an excellence club advisor by the PGCC Board of the Students Trustees. *** An opening reception for the exhibit of Glenn Stewart of Bowie will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Bay Woods Retirement Community, 7101 Bay Front Drive, Annapolis. The public is invited to view his oil and acrylic landscapes and still life paintings, which will be on exhibit through Jan. 4. Recently retired from a career with NASA, Stewart has become a full-time artist after fitting in his painting over 30 years. A largely self-taught artist, he has focused on color and light in local scenes and everyday objects. His work has been featured several times as the artist of the month at Bowie City Hall, and showcased at several Bowie galleries. Stewart has recently appeared on Maryland Public Television displaying his paintings and discussing local community arts programs. He has executed commissions for family homes, boats, favorite scenes, and still lifes. Copyright © 2009 The Bowie Blade-News and Capital Gazette Communications, Inc.
