Jackie D'Orsaneo

Four first-half goals, including two in the first six minutes, allowed the Caldwell College women's soccer team to beat Concordia College, 4-1, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match.

Just 39 seconds into the game, junior forward Jackie D'Orsaneo received a long throw-in and then turned and fired a shot past the Concordia goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead. At the six-minute mark, D'Orsaneo set up a teammate with a pass that sent the ball down the right side which led to a goal.

Michael Lonergan

Bowie native and University of Vermont men's basketball coach Michael Lonergan is preparing his Catamounts for another year of basketball in Burlington.

The first chance that local Lonergan fans will have to see the coach will be Nov. 13 when the Catamounts travel to face Loyola (Md.), a team coached by another former Bowieite and Lonergan's old London Lane house mate Jimmy Patsos. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip-off.

The Catamounts will spend a week in Philadelphia from Nov. 22-29 participating in the Legends Classic. Vermont will play Rutgers, Providence, Drexel, Cornell and Toledo. Keep in mind that Amtrak provides service from New Carrollton to the City of Brotherly Love.

UVM will visit Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg Dec. 30, but then will not return to the area until Feb. 6 when Lonergan's team makes its annual appearance at UMBC.

D'Ante Smith

Lincoln (Pa.) University running back D'Ante Smith leads all Lincoln rushers this fall with 386 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bowie native and Riverdale Baptist Academy graduate has also completed both of his pass attempts and has caught 17 passes. He ranks sixth on the team in overall scoring with 12 points and third in total offense with 390 combined yards.

Lincoln is just 3-6 overall this season, including a 51-20 home loss to Bowie State University.

Carly Deegan

Mount St. Mary's soccer team freshman defender Carly Deegan is adjusting to college life in Emmitsburg and has one shot on goal in four games this fall. The team is 5-10-2 overall.

Brima Konneh

Bowie native Brima Konneh has started six of the nine games he has played for the Washington Adventist University men's soccer team. Konneh has tallied two points on seven shots. The team finished the season 7-8 overall.

Yannick Wallace

DeMatha Catholic High School graduate and Bowie native Yannick Wallace is a junior forward for the Chestnut Hill College men's soccer team, which is 2-11-2 overall this fall. Yannick started one of the 11 games in which he played in 2009 and had three shots on goal.

Katherine DeHenzel

St. John's Catholic High School graduate Katherine DeHenzel is a redshirt sophomore for the College of William and Mary basketball team after undergoing ACL surgery prior to the start of last season.

DeHenzel made quite an impression during her freshman year in becoming the Tribe's starting point guard by the end of the season. She started the last 18 games of the 2007-'08 season, and saw action in another five games. DeHenzel scored in double figures in four games, including a career-high 12 points against Georgia State in the first round of the CAA Tournament. She tied the second best single-game performance in school history with eight steals at UNC-Wilmington.

Ty Sibert

Northeastern University senior tight end Ty Sibert has caught five passes for 56 yards this fall. He has also rushed once for eight yards. The Glenn Dale native and Eleanor Roosevelt High School graduate appeared in all 11 games for Northeastern in his freshman season on special teams and then served as the team's main long-snapper in 2007, where he again appeared in 11 games. Sibert was set back by injuries in 2008 and appeared in just four games.
