Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson's nominees for the Historical and Cultural Trust and the Historic Preservation Committee were recently confirmed by the County Council.

Phyllis Anderson of Glenn Dale, Gerron Levi and John Wulu Jr. of Mitchellville and Lynne Anderson of Bowie were among those who were sworn into the Historical and Cultural Trust.

The Historical and Cultural Trust acquires and preserves historic sites throughout the county. It promotes educational activities relating to historic preservation and has established a countywide organization of volunteers, the "Friends of Preservation," to support preservation efforts.

Phyllis Anderson is assistant director of Financial Management and Assurance at the U.S. Government Accountability Office and a certified public accountant. She is a graduate of Farleigh Dickinson University with a degree in accounting and earned a master's degree in finance from the University of Rochester. She is chairman of the Beautification Committee for the Gabriel's Run Homeowners Association and a community partner with the Gorgeous Prince George's Initiative and the spring cleanups.

Levi represents District 23A-Prince George's County in the Maryland General Assembly and is the deputy director of the Department of Legislation for the American Federal of Labor - Congress of Industrial Organizations in Washington, D.C. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in history and economics and received a juris doctor degree from Howard University School of Law.

Wulu is a supervisory mathematical statistician in the Division of Immigration Health Services at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security where he supervises analysis and response programs staff. He graduated from the University of Liberia with a degree in mathematics and secondary education, received a master's degree in mathematics and teaching of mathematics from Western Michigan University, a master's degree in statistics from Michigan State University, a doctorate degree in biostatistics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and completed doctorate course work for mathematical statistics and probability at Michigan State University.

Lynne Anderson has served on the trust since 2006. She is a public works supervisor with the Town of North Brentwood.
