BHS 'runs' into fall, will seek cross country title

The Bowie High School boys and girls cross country teams put together outstanding performances at the Prince George's County Championship Meet held at Fort Washington Park.

The boys placed second overall out of 22 county teams and received the runner-up trophy for their efforts. The top boys runners in the race out of 100 runners were senior captain Paul Edwards (eighth place), sophomore Gerardo Amaya (12th place), freshman Alan Ottenstein (13th place), sophomore John Walker (20th place) and senior Jeremy LeBlanc (28th place).

The top Bowie girls runners were junior Kiara Jamison (27th place), seniors Rashonda Dickens (30th place) and Courtney Cox (32nd place), freshman Maya Perry (33rd place) and junior Dara Martin (39th place).

The boys team won the county 4A Dual Meet with a 12-0 record and both the girls and boys teams won the three-person, nine-mile relays teams at the county championships. The boys also won second place at the 22-team P.G. County Open Championship.

The boys and girls teams are preparing for the 4A South State Regional Qualifying Meet to be held Nov. 4 at Fort Washington Park.
