Stephanie Cross of Bowie will attend the University of Maryland in the fall with a 4.0 grade-point average due to the university's Young Scholars program. Last year, she received an A in a writing course and the three credits earned will count toward her degree. She plans to major in Japanese.

Cross is a graduate of Eleanor Roosevelt High School.
