| County accepts plan to keep Bowie fire stations staffed

The chess match goes on between the city of Bowie and Prince George's County. Unfortunately the citizens are the pawns in this real life game. Bowie Fire Chief Lee Havens offered a plan to Prince George's County acting Fire Chief Eugene Jones that would guarantee staffing at the Bowie fire stations 24 hours a day. The plan would also save more than 600 man hours per week that can be utilized elsewhere in the county. A letter to Jones from Havens read in part, "With the current plan, we cannot guarantee that we will have volunteers to staff the stations during the time frames in which there will be no career...
