Akron uses major-leaguer to bury Baysox

Rain-shortened game called after 7.1 innings

In a strange case of deja vu, the Akron Aeros used major-league talent to hand the Bowie Baysox just their third loss in the last nine games, dropping the Baysox, 5-1, on the last day of June.

The Cleveland Indians demoted pitcher Fausto Carmona after the big leaguer went 2-6 with a 7.42 ERA this season. Carmona made one start at Single-A Lake County and shut out Hagerstown while allowing just one hit with seven strikeouts in 7.1 innings.

The Indians made a similar roster move last fall when they sent designated hitter Travis Hafner to Akron on a rehab assignment during the first round of the Eastern League playoffs. Hafner...
