Progress for budget deficit in special session described as 'slow'

Taxpayers may find their money going to different places next year, but they'll have to wait a few more weeks to find out, as state delegates from Prince George's County continue to meet with other delegates in Annapolis to discuss possible solutions for the current state fiscal crisis.

Facing a deficit of $1.6 billion, Gov. Martin O'Malley has called on the state-elected officials to find ways of bridging the spending gap without emptying taxpayers' pockets.

A special session ordered by the governor has been in progress since Oct. 29 and according to local delegates, developments have been "slow."
