Day on river turns to terror

The start of a four-day adventure at a local 4-H camp, almost turned deadly for a group of kayakers June 19.

More than 30 kayakers set out from a camp in the 18400 block of Queen Anne Road, for a day on the Patuxent River when conditions changed drastically and quickly.

"Within 10 minutes people started running into trouble," Lynn Cherry, one of the kayakers said.
