Face it ... kids need monitoring

The tragic death of Bowie High School student-athlete Jonathan Nolon really hit the school hard. It has barely been a week since Nolon, a varsity wide receiver and AP student, collapsed and died in the school's gymnasium.

While the tragedy remains fresh and Bowie students truly begin the grieving process - kudos to football coach Lionel Macklin for ordering a bus to take the football team to Nolon's funeral March 1 - there should be some good, some awareness, which comes from such a tragic occurrence.

Parents, teachers, school administrators and coaches need to be aware of what is happening with their children at all...
