Reading Recovery gone? I am sure you are aware that on Friday afternoon, June 19, (the last day of school) an emergency meeting took place of all Reading Recovery teachers. At that time, these incredible teachers were informed that Bowie schools will no longer receive Reading Recovery services. Each year, a Reading Recovery specialist services between 16-20 first-graders with one-on-one research-based teaching. Even with strong kindergarten and first-grade instruction, there is always a group of children who needs specialized teaching.
