911 Tape: Dog Shooting
An off-duty federal police officer called 911 about 6:30 p.m. Aug. 2 to report he had just shot an off-leash Siberian husky inside the fenced-in portion of the Quail Run community dog park. He claimed he shot Bear-Bear in order to protect his personal dog, a German shepherd named Asia.

Annapolis Mayor Josh Cohen announced three cabinet level appointments Thursday. Mike Mallinoff, director of the Department of Neighborhoods and Environmental Programs, was names acting city manager. Additionally, Chief Administrative Officer Doug Smith will become the special assistant for development, a new position. Also Kevin Simmons, a former assistant fire chief in Howard County, will become the director of the Office of Emergency Management.
