Stress Production: Lonergan

Posted: March 13, 1:50 pm | (permalink) | (0 comments)

Evan Fjeld, whose mom just passed away Tuesday, is playing with four fould and with all of that in mind, he hit a key layup to put UVM up by 3 points, and then forced a HUGE offensive foul on Boston University by taking a charge --- an ensuing 3-pointer from the Catamounts gave them a 6-point lead. Fjeld, whose face is just drenched with emotion and pain, then pulled down a key rebound.

Lonergan told his guys before the game to enjoy the experience --- they worked their entire lives to get to this point of their basketball careers. Though Fjeld is playing with a heavy heart, he realized, seemingly, that his life goes on, and that is sort of how Bowie sports fans feel these days, just three weeks following the death of BHS football player and AP student Jonathan Nolon. We mourn, but we also continue living.
