Report Abuse or Vote In order to allow the user community the ability to collectively rank the value of comments posted on the Capital Gazette websites we have implemented a thumbs-up/down system. All logged-in users may participate by voting up/down each comment. If others vote on your comment, your individual score will go up/down depending on the votes. Initially, everyone starts with a score of zero, and must earn credits to have significant voting weight. Individuals with higher scores will have more voting weight.

I would like to first state that I am what I consider a constitutionalist, no rep. or dem. so I feel I hear things with a pretty open mind. I can respect your trying to find a better way but would like to point out an error in your facts, one the more libral individuals I find are make consistantly. AMERICAN SOLDIER DEATHTOLL SINCE 2001 as of 11/04/09 in Afghanistan is 911. Not thousands and a far cry from Vietnam as far as your refrence to asia goes. I also felt the need to compare that to Baltimore City Murder rate and could only go back to 2006 and came up with an astonishing 979 as of 10/26/09. That technically makes Afghanistan war zone safer than Baltimore city. I think in a modern society with civilian casualty held at a higher consiquence than in wars of the past forcing the military to use a scalple rather than a butcher knife we need to get over how long it takes, and think in terms of what ever it takes to do it right. I appreciate your strategic suggestions, but when boots on the ground make recommendations I weigh that more heavily than a journalists history lesson on an oppressive brittish empires outdated and currupt practices. Not to mention your allocation of funds to intelligence agents opens up a blank check for government corruption. I can only hope you read this with as open of a mind as I read your article.
